Amber had just left a bad relationship when a friend suggested she try FarmersOnly. It didn’t take long for her to meet Troy, and soon they had their first date planned.
They each traveled to Wichita, Kansas, to meet in a neutral location. She was “petrified” of meeting someone off the internet, so she met him in a Walmart parking lot.
“He had a big, huge truck and a sweet smile, so I figured he probably wasn’t a serial killer,” she jokes.
That day they wandered all over Wichita, stopping to eat at various restaurants and enjoying a trip to Cabela’s.
“It was funny because a Cabela’s employee called me Troy’s wife on our first date! It was truly a magical day,” she says.
While Troy will tell you he knew Amber was the one on that first day, it was a few months later when she had the same revelation.
Her truck had broken down, and she wasn’t in a financial situation to be able to get it fixed. She called Troy in tears, sharing the news. He calmed her down, ordered the necessary parts, and fixed it himself. For someone who describes herself as “fiercely independent”, it was hard, but was the first time she felt she could let someone else carry a burden for her.
When describing what they love about each other, it’s clear how deep their love truly runs.
Troy shares that his favorite thing about Amber is that she is caring and always thinking about other people.
Amber loves that Troy supports her no matter what. “He has the biggest heart. He’s so dependable. He’s the kindest person I’ve ever met. I could go on forever about what I love about him!”
On October 21, 2018, they exchanged vows at a historical barn in Kansas. Amber grew up riding and showing horses, while Troy grew up on a farm, so they wanted to tailor their wedding to their personalities and backgrounds.
The barn sits on an old Percheron horse farm, so Amber asked her friend to bring her Percheron and carriage to ride into the ceremony. “I couldn’t imagine my wedding without a horse there! It was stunning.”
As a nod to the way their relationship began, they had their junior bridesmaids carry signs down the aisle that said, “You don’t have to be lonely at FarmersOnly.com!”
Not only did they stay true to their background and the history of their venue, but they love Halloween, so their guests and bridal party dressed up in costumes for the reception, making for a fun, unforgettable night.
“I honestly couldn’t imagine my life without him,” Amber gushes. “He’s my best friend and makes my life so complete.”
