Michelle, an outdoor-loving self-proclaimed “country girl at heart”, had given other dating sites a try, but was sick of only finding guys looking for a short-term fling.
Chris had just passed one year cancer free, and was looking to get out and do things, but when he would ask his friends to get together they were always busy with their wives or girlfriends. One night the FarmersOnly commercial came on TV (which his son always sang along to), and he decided to give it a shot.
In March of 2018, the two met on FarmersOnly.
After talking online for a little over two weeks, they met up for their first official date. They met up in Springfield, Missouri, where they ate sushi, went to Bass Pro Shops, and visited a museum and aquarium. Even after all of that, they didn’t want the day to end, so they decided to grab dinner at Olive Garden. All said and done their first date lasted 9 hours!
It didn’t take long for them to realize they’d met their life partner. For Michelle, while she thought from the first date that it was meant to be, she was fully sure by May. Similarly, Chris had a feeling from the beginning, but because of his past failed relationships he was guarded. Even so, by July he was convinced she was the one.
Chris loves that the two of them are able to have so much fun together, going on adventures both planned and spontaneous, and that they never fight!
Michelle adds that he is her best friend, and that it feels like they’ve known each other their whole lives.
On August 8, 2020, Michelle and Chris got married at a beautiful, rustic barn in Sedalia, Missouri. They said “I do” in the garden, followed by a reception in the main barn. While it was tough to be a “Covid Couple”, forced to change their plans from what they originally wanted and not able to have as many people there to celebrate with them, Michelle shares that the day was “beautiful and HOT, but filled with love and God’s blessings.”
“You never know what God has in store for you,” Michelle says. “Be patient, open-minded, and put yourself out there. Just be careful about it. Chris and I talked via [chat] for a while before sharing our numbers with each other. We talked every day - good mornings through good nights - never missing a single day. Communicate, communicate, communicate… then move forward! Relationships based on physical relations don’t last like relationships based on faith and friendship.”
